Pregnancy Yoga & Postnatal Yoga in Bristol

Your well-being is the key.

Just like my Doula offering, my Yoga classes will support you wherever you are on your journey, pre- or post-natal.

Practicing yoga gives you tools to support your own well-being, which is especially useful when all else might feel in flux. Pregnancy Yoga helps you prepare for your birth and Post-Natal Yoga supports your transition to parenthood. Both are about befriending your body, connecting with your inner wisdom and finding your own way.

All sessions begin with a welcome circle so I can tailor each class to meet your needs each week and support you in building that much needed community with the other people in class. You’ll get to enjoy moving your body, practice calming breathing techniques and access deep rest.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re new to yoga, it’s best to wait until around 12 weeks before starting class, when you’ll feel more energised and are safely through your first trimester. If you’re used to yoga or regular exercise, join when you feel ready. You can practice right up to birth – even during! If you have any health concerns, please check with your doctor or midwife that you’re ok to practice before booking in.

Nothing! All equipment is provided, though you are of course welcome to bring anything additional to improve your comfort (a bottle of water can be useful, or maybe an additional layer for the relaxation).

You don’t need to buy special pregnancy gym wear. Anything you are comfortable in to move is just fine. Socks or a jumper for the relaxation can be useful, especially in the cooler months.

This is about so much more than the ‘exercise’ part of yoga. Pregnancy yoga gives you a chance to slow down, to connect with your yourself, your intuition, and your baby.

This will help you make the best decisions through your pregnancy, birth and beyond.

Movements are adapted to suit this unique phase of life and you’ll know the things offered are pregnancy-safe. You’ll learn key practices to help with your pregnancy aches and pains and little bits of birthy wisdom and antenatal education will be peppered through our sessions. You’ll also make friends and connect into your local community of mums!

LushTums Post Natal Mum and Baby Yoga

You’re ready to reconnect with your body and want to return to exercise safely…

Post natal yoga is for you! Expect movements to ease your post-natal aches and pains and breath work to draw back to your centre.

We’ll work on rebuilding your strength, both physically and emotionally, by strengthening from the inside out, focusing on the deep core muscles and pelvic floor connection.

Your recovery is the primary focus, but with baby by your side. They love to watch you move, you really are their best entertainer – and we use baby massage, songs and baby yoga if required!

Frequently Asked Questions

Postnatal Yoga classes are suitable for new mums from 6 weeks after a vaginal birth. If you have had a caesarean birth, please wait 8 weeks for some additional healing to take place. It’s a good idea to check with your doctor or midwife before practicing. You can continue until baby is crawling (when it becomes a little less relaxing for you!)

Please know all is welcome in the space. Crying is how all babies communicate and it is welcome – I strongly encourage you to respond to whatever your baby needs. You may comfort and cuddle them. You are welcome to feed during class (breasts or bottles welcome!) They might nap or they might enjoy watching you. I’m always happy to help and hold babies too, if it gives you some extra space.

Nothing! All equipment is provided as it was in pregnancy yoga, though you are of course welcome to bring anything additional you need for your baby e.g. bottles. Small toys are welcome too, but often the babies are happiest watching you!

Post natal recovery is much longer than you might expect – the 6 week check up is not when you’re back to ‘normal’! And it runs much deeper than just ‘getting your body back! This space is for you to get to know your body again, as it is now.

You’ll learn key breathwork practices that are essential for core and pelvic floor recovery, as well as specific physical exercises tailored to progressively rebuild strength. Movements will ease those achey shoulders, backs and joints that are common postnatally and, perhaps most importantly, you’ll get a chance to rest! You’ll get to share your parenting journey with other new mums too.
