The Birth Hub – Bristol

So you’re pregnant….and not quite sure where to start?

I’m really excited to introduce The Birth Hub — a new collective offering created by Bristol-based doulas and birth workers Kim Ives, Kim Mousley and Rebecca Hunt.

The Birth Hub has been established in response to the growing need for woman-centred, holistic birth preparation that centres you in your pregnancy and birth journey.

It’s a space to explore what’s coming up for you in your pregnancy, to find solidarity with pregnant women who get it, and begin to think about what you really want.

We’re passionate about every mother, every parent, feeling supported, heard and respected through the birth journey that is right for them.

This is not a standard antenatal education course, but BIRTH PREPARATION.

Welcome to The Birth Hub

Imagine coming together with a group of women who are navigating the same experiences, same feelings and same miraculous journey as you are right now…

Finding a space where you can pause, check in with yourself and explore what’s coming up for you in your pregnancy.

Having an opportunity to ask the questions you’ve been wondering about, hear different perspectives, share experiences and begin to work out what you want for your birth.

What to expect from your session

You’ll receive a warm welcome from your hosts for the evening: we’re passionate Bristol-based doulas and birth workers and all very friendly. You’ll soon be put at ease!

We’ll come together in a circle and begin with a check in to see where you’re at currently and what’s coming up for you. This is your chance to introduce yourselves and get to know each other too. There’s no pressure though – share as much or as little as you want.

We’ll introduce our theme for the evening and facilitate some supportive discussion – we’ll share key things you need to know, open up to questions, share stories from our real-world birth room experience, and offer tips and tools for navigating the path that is right for you.

There’s time for a tea break so that you have a chance to chat with the other expecting mothers, and then we’ll return and share some practices to support your pregnancy and birth journey.

It’s relaxed, friendly and informal — with plenty of space for you to take what you need.

We work with a 6 month rolling program of themes – drop in for one if you need something specific answered, or sign up for the whole 6 for a comprehensive preparation.

We want you (and all mothers!) to…

– Know the variety of options available to you so that you can make a truly informed choice about your pregnancy and birth

– Feel confident in your own decision making process and trust yourself – you’re the one growing this baby, you’re the one birthing this baby, you’re the expert here!

– Feel supported, heard and trusted as you journey through pregnancy-birth-motherhood because this experience is yours

– Have tools which you can use to support yourself and step in to your birth with confidence, a confidence that you will carry forward in to your parenting

– Have the courage to find the path that is right for you, as it unfolds. There’s no right way to birth here and no agenda.

We believe this sets you and your baby up for a strong start to life together where you are the centre of your experience.

If this sounds like something you want for yourself too, come and join us!

“Good beginnings make a positive difference in the world, so its worth our while to provide the best possible care for mothers and babies throughout this extraordinarily influential part of life.” Ina May Gaskin

Who is The Birth Hub for?

The Birth Hub is for any expecting mother who wants to feel more informed, connected and prepared for birth. (Note: these sessions are for pregnant parents – look out for our future partner workshops!)

You don’t need to have everything figured out. You don’t even need to know what kind of birth you want yet.

Just come as you are.

We’re passionate about inclusivity and equality, and we want The Birth Hub to be accessible to as many people as possible.

That’s why we offer a three-tier payment system: Supporter, Maintainer and Unity.

The Supporter price reflects the true financial cost of providing these sessions and helps make it possible for those in a more financially vulnerable position to access The Birth Hub through the lower-income Maintainer and Unity options.

We ask everyone to be mindful when choosing their tier. The Green Bottle diagram is a simple and useful guide to help you decide which option feels appropriate for you.
