Birth Skills Partner Workshop

Prepare Together for a Confident Birth Experience!

Whether you’re expecting your first baby or your third, you want a birth partner who is confident, knowledgeable, and fully engaged in the process.

Having a supportive birth partner by your side can make all the difference to your birth journey – perhaps they don’t realise it yet, but you know you need them on the same page as you are. My birth skills workshop will give you some time to connect together as a birth team – and I guarantee both of you are going to come away feeling more prepared for what’s ahead.

Why your birth partner matters

You deserve a birth partner who can genuinely support you through your birth journey, someone who understands their role and is prepared to be there for you every step of the way. Energy is contagious in the birth room: if your partner feels nervous, you’ll feel that. If they feel confident, you’ll feel that too! It’s crucial that your birth partner isn’t someone you have to look after, worry about, or organise on the birth day – they should be there to provide YOU with reassurance, comfort, and practical support.

What you’ll learn together:

This 3-hour session is designed to arm you and your birth partner with practical, effective tools for a smoother and more comfortable birth.

Expect my usual warm welcome, followed by:

  • Key Pregnancy Yoga Practices: A chance to share the movement, breathwork and relaxation tools you’ve already been learning in Pregnancy Yoga.
  • Essential Hypnobirthing Tools: Get equipped with powerful techniques to stay calm and in control during labour.
  • Real-World Doula Tips: Gain insight into what actually happens in the birth room, and how your partner can best support you in the moment.
  • Rebozo Scarf Comfort Measures: Learn how to use the rebozo scarf for comfort and support during labour.
  • Biomechanic Techniques: Simple movements and positioning that can help your body work more efficiently during birth.

Get ready to birth with confidence

Frequently Asked Questions

Most people feel ready to start engaging with antenatal education and birth preparation in their 3rd trimester. Any time from 26 weeks onwards is ideal, though you are of course welcome sooner if you feel ready. Many of the things you’ll learn can be practiced at home through pregnancy – and should be for optimal effect! Having said that, it’s never too late to prepare for a confident birth: you’ll be learning some really powerful birth tools – come right up until baby is born.

This workshop is designed to be really practical – we’ll be doing quite a lot of movement so wear something comfortable you can move easily in. This goes for partners too – they’ll be joining in with some pregnancy yoga movements, so something loose and easy to sit on the floor in will be useful for them too.

We’ll be learning how you can use a rebozo scarf to improve your comfort in labour, help you relax and support baby positioning: if you have a long, wide scarf or pashmina you can bring along that would be wonderful.  Ideally this scarf wouldn’t be too stretchy, but you’ll be able to get the idea even if it is and I’ll have my rebozo for you to try as well.

You’re very welcome to bring along snacks and drinks too, and anything else that might improve your comfort through the session.

Birth Skills workshops run roughly every 8-10 weeks. It’s ideal to have your birth partner there as so much of what we explore will be hands on, partner support skills. But it needn’t be your romantic partner! If you have a second birth partner or a doula, they’re very welcome to come along with you. You’re also welcome to bring a friend and feedback to your partner afterwards.

Alternatively, I also offer private 121 birth preparation sessions. This can be a great way to find a time that works for you both, and to get a really bespoke preparation. Find out more about this on the Hypnobirthing page or pop me an email to enquire.
